Lease Return at Bergey's Chevrolet in Colmar, PA

Bergey's Chevrolet in Colmar, Pennsylvania makes the lease return process simple and stress-free - whether you originally leased your vehicle from us or from another dealership. As your lease end date approaches, you have options, and our team is here to walk you through each one so you can make the decision that works best for your situation. No matter which path you choose, we'll handle the details and make sure the transition is as smooth as possible.

Your Options at Lease End

As your lease comes to a close, you generally have three options to consider. Each one has its own advantages depending on your driving needs, budget, and how you feel about your current vehicle.

Return Your Vehicle and Lease a New Chevrolet

This is the most popular choice for drivers who enjoy having the latest models, newest technology, and the peace of mind that comes with driving a vehicle under factory warranty coverage. Turning in your current lease and stepping into a new Chevrolet means you'll have access to the most current safety features, infotainment upgrades, and performance improvements across the lineup - from the Silverado and Equinox to the Trax, Traverse, Blazer, and Chevrolet's growing electric vehicle options. Our sales team can begin working with you before your current lease expires to find the right model and secure competitive lease terms so there's no gap between turning in your vehicle and driving home in a new one.

Return Your Vehicle and Walk Away

If your driving needs have changed or you'd like to take some time before committing to another vehicle, you can simply return your leased vehicle at lease end and walk away. Our team will conduct a lease-end inspection, review your mileage and vehicle condition, and handle the return paperwork with the leasing company. If there are any end-of-lease charges related to excess mileage or wear and tear, we'll explain them clearly so you understand exactly what to expect.

Purchase Your Leased Vehicle

If you've grown attached to your vehicle and it's been a great fit for your life, you may have the option to purchase it at lease end for the residual value stated in your original lease agreement. This can be a smart financial move, especially if your vehicle is in excellent condition, has lower-than-expected mileage, or if market values have shifted in your favor since you signed your lease. Our finance team can help you secure a loan to purchase your leased vehicle and compare that option against leasing or buying something new so you can see which path offers the best overall value.

Preparing for Your Lease Return

A little preparation before your lease return appointment can help the process go smoothly and minimize unexpected charges. Start by reviewing your lease agreement to confirm your mileage allowance and any terms related to excess wear and use. Remove all personal belongings from the vehicle, including items in the glove box, center console, trunk, and any aftermarket accessories you've added. Gather both sets of keys, the owner's manual, and any original equipment that came with the vehicle. If your vehicle has minor cosmetic issues - small dents, scratches, chipped glass, or tire wear - you may want to address them before the inspection, as repairing them on your own can sometimes cost less than the charges assessed by the leasing company.

Lease-End Inspection

Most lease agreements include a vehicle inspection near the end of the lease term to assess the vehicle's condition. This inspection evaluates the exterior for dents, scratches, and paint damage, the interior for stains, rips, and excessive wear, tire tread depth and condition, windshield and glass integrity, and the overall mechanical condition of the vehicle. Normal wear and tear is expected and typically won't result in additional charges. Our team can help you understand the difference between normal wear and items that may trigger excess wear fees, and we can advise you on whether it's worth addressing certain items before the inspection takes place.

Can I Return My Lease to Bergey's If I Leased Elsewhere?

Yes. If you leased your Chevrolet through GM Financial at another dealership, you can return it to Bergey's Chevrolet in Colmar. We handle lease returns from other GM dealers regularly, and the process is the same - bring your vehicle to us, and we'll take care of the inspection, paperwork, and coordination with the leasing company. It's also a great opportunity to explore a new lease or purchase at Bergey's if you'd like to continue driving a Chevrolet with the added benefit of our family-owned dealership experience.

Start the Conversation Early

We recommend reaching out to our team at least 90 days before your lease end date. This gives you time to explore your options, get a head start on finding your next vehicle if you plan to lease or buy again, schedule your lease-end inspection, and address any condition or mileage concerns before they become costly. Our team will help you create a plan so there are no surprises on return day. At Bergey's, our Golden Rule philosophy means we'll guide you through the process with the same honesty and care that has defined our family-owned dealership for over 100 years.
